The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Exodus 33:11
So when I read this verse, I was struck by the personal relationship that was between the God and this man Moses. The pure intimacy that is shared with others by looking into their face. Seeing into their eyes, the reaction of the words that are spoken ripples across the human face. A slight curvature of the cheek as they smile or frown, the flush of color and flash of heat in their skin. The laugh lines that have slowly over the years made small indents into the complexion of the individual. Purity of intimacy in a relationship that has been created by our loving and graceful God.
The word intimacy could be said ‘in-to-me-you-see, now that is friendship.
Okay so I know that personally I need to speak to others face to face – in person, so I can see the other person’s true reactions to what we are talking about. I am not good on a telephone call, Facebook, or even on messenger. I need to be in a conversation face to face so I can feel that I am connecting to the heart of the person and they are connecting to me. So how much more can we bond with God thru prayer seeking His face, in prayer. Spending time speaking in prayer and supplication to our living and loving Heavenly Father. Ever bringing us closer to a precious and unique kinship and friendship with God. I encourage you to work towards this over the next few months and see what happens, I look forward to hearing and seeing what God will do in our lives as we continue to seek His face together!
