The word focus as a noun means the center of interest or activity. And the state or quality of having or producing clear visual definition. As a verb – adapt to the prevailing level of light and become able to see clearly - pay particular attention to.
God’s word tells us very clearly....
15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[a] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. 1 John 2:15-17
Ok so what can we do tune out and block the negativity of the world around us, in His word we have been given weapons to use far beyond our own understanding.
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
So taking captive our very thoughts on a daily bases, I know for myself that I fail almost as much as I win in this. But something Mark spoke on in the last few weeks really rang true with me. If you are moving forward even by 1% you are gaining ground on what the enemy is trying to take from your life. So allowing God’s prevailing light to shine in our lives can become our main focus in winning the battle, as the battle truly is the Lords.
